"See it. It fucking rules"

If you need to keep your eye on one director, keep it on Jan Kounen.

I am a big fan of this director ever since I saw a collection of his short films, which are without a doubt some of the most exciting and beautiful films ever, surreal, harsh and stylized without ruining the plot.

Dobermann is no exception.

I think giving away any of the plot will ruin what is a great film.
From the opening credits where a CGI doberman is sniffing about the screen licking off the credits, you know you are infor a film that cries originality and excellence in film making.

The acting is all spectacular, the action scenes breathtaking and though the plot may be a tad thin at times, the whole look of the film is so exhilorating it makes it worth while.

I warn you this is no happy film, it is about gansters, murder and yes.. a doberman.

But see it. It fucking rules.

Oh and if you have money to spare import a laserdisc copy of Jan Kounens short films (Actually called that) from France. It is not in English, no subtitles, but the visuals are well worth the price.

I now have a new favourite director to place along side Luc Besson and Peter Jackson.
