"You're more than certain to enjoy this- uniformly superb."
4 stars

Having been only a casual fan of Nick Park's "Wallace & Gromit" series I wasn't sure what to expect here - what we get though is an immensely enjoyable little flick and definitely the most remarkable non-live action film of the year.

This review is going to be short because there's not much to criticise - everything is uniformly superb. The cast is perfect (Jane Horrocks as the clinically stupid 'Babs' is the best), the characters memorable and the plot simple to follow but not TOO simple. Also strong are the gags which are safe for kids, but have that naughtier and edgier British sense of humour lacking from US family flicks like "Toy Story 2".

The morals are laid on a little thick at times, but thankfully those scenes are kept short. However its also the tone which may prove why this film clicks with some and not others - this isn't a sweet-hearted fable, but rather an animated UK poultry version of "Hogan's Heroes" with a much more sinister Colonel Klink in the form of the truly evil Mrs. Tweedy.

Thus the subject matter is a little too dark for the very young. Nevertheless if you're over 5 years old you're more than certain to enjoy this. - Garth Franklin Score: 8 / 10
