"I think they just made this movie so we could watch Robin play."
The bestest thing in the whole world about this website is I can finally tell the world all my issues with movies. And I only have one with this quite decent movie.Well, bleach my hair and call me Dawson, but I adore Spielberg. He is simply put, the man. I love almost everything he does. he takes on such a variety of genres and topics and blah blah blha he rules.
In this one, he takes the idea of, "What if Peter Pan grew up to be Robin Williams?" and spins a lovely tale. As you can imagine, this is mostly a kid's movie. And Spielberg must be a great dad, since his idea of a food fight is entirely accurate. And Robin, being the ultimate Peter Pan anyways, does a phenomenal job.
However, the love storyline with tinkerbell (Julia Roberts in the worst hair in her career) was in my opinon uneccesary, and a lil bit our of place. Don't mess with my childhood plotlines and make them all sexy, Steven. But that wasn't my problem with this movie. My problem is, if it's a kid's movie, go all the way. If it's a fantasy story of good vs. evil, go all the way. Don't kill off a positive character for no reason at all. The lost boy who took over for Peter when he left to go grow up dies pointlessly, and I think that would be fine in a different kind of movie, but it's gratuitous in the genre.
With those two exceptions, this movie is delightfully funny and moralistic and fun and well written and great.4 sporks because Steven messed up a little.
